FIRST HOUSE IN CORNWALL WINS AWARD

This award-winning bespoke house, which has stunning coastal views, was built by Baufritz for Andrew and Alison Nicholls earlier this year. The house comprises a self contained basement built by our partners, Glatthaar, a sun lounge and a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea.  Owners, Andrew and Alison Nicholls, first demolished their holiday home they had owned for years to make way for the new house which was designed and built to their own individual requirements. 

 One of the judging panel, Jason Orme, Editor of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine commented: “The judges awarded the Nicholls' home the Award for Best Timber Frame Home 2007 as they felt that it displayed significant progress in the field of timber frame homebuilding. Displaying exceptional eco credentials through the use of an innovative walling system, exacting air tightness standards and a company-wide approach to sustainability, the house was also high in design quality and impressive customer service levels.” Andrew Nicholls says of his new Baufritz home: “I deliberately chose a German company to build my house as I know the quality is exceptionally high. My idea was to build a quite traditional looking house that embraced the latest in construction technology that would make for a very energy efficient home.  What appealed to me most about what Baufritz can offer is the flexibility of their design along with quite outstanding eco-credentials.”
