Code for sustainable homes

Environment and Nature

The introduction of the Code for Sustainable Homes in December 2006 signified a huge step forward for the UK building industry. But at Baufritz we know that there is so much more to eco house building and it goes way beyond just reducing carbon emissions relating to the running of the house once built.

We take a holistic approach to eco building and we have been investing in research and development into healthy and ecological homes since the 1970s to try and reduce our carbon emissions from the very beginning of the manufacturing process. As a result we have been building carbon positive homes for some 15 years already.

Baufritz was the first German construction company to take the independent EMAS (Eco-Management & Audit Scheme) ‘EU Eco Audit’ in 1996, and we have passed four times to date, however, reducing carbon emissions is only part of the story. The materials used to build ecological homes should also be considered. In addition to our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, Baufritz strongly believes that eco homes should create a healthy living environment for the occupants.

We welcome the new Code for Sustainable Homes as a world leading standard. But at Baufritz we go much further - building homes that are as ecological as they possibly can be not only for the benefit for the environment but also for the well being of all our customers.
